Home My Blog Reverb10

Reverb10

Monday, 13 December 2010 20:53

I stumbled across Reverb10 in early December and it sounded like a great idea.  The idea is to write about a topic every day during the month of December.

Reverb10 is an online project to reflect on your year and manifest what's next.  The challenge is to blog on each of the 31 days on a topic provided by the Reverb10 authors.  I may have bitten off more than I can chew.  It sounded like a great idea but I had come across it in early December, so I was already behind a few days before I had even started.

Once I have committed to something, I believe it is important to follow through, so it didn't feel right to just let it drop.  So I have decided that for my first year I would write a blog for each week rather than each day.

1 December 2010 - Encapsulate 2010 in one word and choose a word for 2011

I really liked this one.  My new year's resolution for 2010 was 'to keep an open mind'.  So in keeping with my NYR I think my word for 2010 is awareness.  I kind of lost my mojo a bit earlier in the year - and then my awareness increased - and the magic returned.

My word for 2011 is expansion.  I love this word.  In my book 'Doing It with Love!' I struggled with the term 'spiritual growth' but I so love the word expansion.  It feels delicious.

2 December 2010 - What do you do each day that doesn't contribute to your writing and can you eliminate it?

This one I found more difficult.  I guess the issue for me is that I didn't really consider myself a writer.  However, I love writing and I am coming to understand that it is an important part of who I am.  So at the moment, I am content with whispering to myself 'I am a writer' and then see what happens.

3 December 2010 - Pick one moment during which you felt most alive this year

Gosh, one moment.  This is hard.  It has been such an amazing year.  To me, it is the simple things.  Especially spending time with my gorgeous boy.  There are so many wonderful moments but I will pick one from today - when Luke said to me 'mummy, I adore you'.

4 December 2010 - How did you cultivate a sense of wonder in your life this year?

This one is easy - the best way I know to cultivate a sense of wonder is to spend some time with a small child.  They just do it naturally and if you spend enough time with them you just can't help but be captivated by the beauty surrounding you.

5 December 2010 - What (or whom) did you let go of this year?

This is my birthday.  This year I let go (just a little bit more) trying to please everyone.  Just a little bit more courage to do what I think is right.

6 December 2010 - Last thing you made, something you want to make

I haven't really considered myself as creative, not in a practical sense.  I made some crystal decorations for our Christmas tree last year and I really want to make them again this year.  Also, I have really got into burning candles and I would love to make our own.

7 December 2010 - Where have you discovered community?

I have met so many wonderful people through my website this year - it has been so lovely.  It feels wonderful to connect with people from all over the world.  I also love ted.com, listening to inspiring speakers.  It makes me feel so happy that there are so many amazing people doing so many wonderful things.

I may not have done a separate blog on each topic but even this, my first small attempt, has been rewarding, interesting and thought provoking.  Why not give it a try?
